The second interesting piece is this awesome Death Star Surface diorama for the Master Replicas Studio Scale Millennium Falcon.
At $450, it’s a little pricey but an interesting and unique item.
It looks like it may have been made using the Death Star surface pieces that came with the special edition of the Sculpting a Galaxy book.
I must confess that i think that the surface and the model itself are a bit too close for comfort here.
Overall, i think that the original mirror surface to the model is better. If i had the money, i’d definately get this but i doubt if i’d use it. I can’t help thinking that as an ESB model that a diorama based on that movie would be better. (Perhaps an asteroid surface?)
Man, I gotta say that if this was executed better, I would be all over it. The fact of the matter is that it makes it look more like the Falcon is about to crash on the surface rather than save the day. If only they had found some way to extend the post that the ship sits on, this would be a real winner.
I suppose you can only do so much with the base. It’s just a little close. As faults go, that’s not a lot. 🙂
Asteroid base coming very soon.
Looking forward to seeing that.
Took longer than expected. Feel free to share. http://imgur.com/gallery/3cUcK/new
Oh, I will share, alright. That is truly awesome.
I’d like to buy that base if you’re selling copies..
Helped. It’s not me that’s selling them. Have a look on ebay and contact the seller. If it’s not available, it might be worth taking a look at the reall prop forum boards. (Www.rpf.com)
Send me a email address and I’ll pass it on to the maker. jumpervii@gmail.com He also just started making the asteroid base which I posted above.
I’d like info about buying this, too. mike@mikedemaine.com
Go for it, Mike.
