DeAgostini: Build The Millennium Falcon; Issue 2

So, Part 2 of DeAgostini’s Build The Millennium Falcon. As with issue 1, the cover is another photo of the completed model, which is great news as far as i am concerned and i hope that they continue to do this throughout the run.

imageIssue 2 has the following parts;

A screwdriver, more of the sub frame assembly parts, including screws and joints, the Dejarek board, cockpit pieces and the mount for the quad guns.

imageThis is the first part that actually shows the detail on the paint application for the model. I am not an expert, but i don’t find it too impressive. However, i will not be repainting it as i am not a modeller. Also, i am not expecting this to be the most detailed model out there and i’m interested in DeAgostini’s interpretation. I have the MR Studio Scale model and i am happy to leave that as the most details representation of the Millennium Falcon. However, the kit does look pretty easy to put together so kudos to DeAgostini for the amount of thought and planning that must have gone into this.

The Magazine this week focuses on the main cockpit control and has some nice artwork of teh main cockpit consol.

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageNot withstanding my complaint earlier about the paint work, i think that this is still an exciting project. I was going to collect all the pieces and assemble them at the end but after seeing how this all fits together, i think i may try to assemble this as i go. For tips on the model build check out Ian Lawrences blog. Likewise, here are some comparison shots from Ian’s blog showing the differences between the initial and new issues. (As with issue 1 the newer parts are on the left.)

About mffanrodders

A keen Star Wars collector since 1977, my collection focus seems to have taken on a turn towards Han Solo's iconic Star Ship. Why the Millennium Falcon? No one else seemed to have one at the time and it was fair to say that i had difficulty resisting the higher end models. My friend, icruise from Rebelscum has a superb blog for his Jabba the Hutt collection, I thought that i'd start this blog to chart my own collection of Millennium Falcon related stuff as it increases. Well, that was the plan but it now seems to be more about cataloguing any Millennium Falcon item in general now so that i can come back to them later.

      Ouch. $40 is a lot of money. I beleive that the US is due in or around February/March. Coming from Singapore i would imagine that you might be better off waiting to see if Australia gets this.
