“She’s Got It Where It Counts, Kid” by Jerry Vanderstelt

It’s that time of year again and the San Diago Comic Con has started. This is always such an expensive time of year. :)

The first Millennium Falcon offering so far is this beautiful painting by Jerry Vanderstelt called “She’s got it where it counts, kid” depicting the Millennium Falcon’s part in the first Death Star Battle.

Available through ACME Archives Direct. Approximately 18″ by 24″, this beauty’s going for a cool $325 for the Canvas and is limited to 75 pieces. There’s also the option to buy this on paper for $125. The paper versions limited to 150 pieces.

It might be snob value on my part, but i’ve always preferred canvas. I’ve preordered on as it’s make a nice accompanying piece for my Han Solo painting. :)

About Rodney Payne

A keen Star Wars collector since 1977, my collection focus seems to have taken on a turn towards Han Solo's iconic Star Ship. Why the Millennium Falcon? No one else seemed to have one at the time and it was fair to say that i had difficulty resisting the higher end models. icruise from Rebelscum has a superb blog for his Jabba the Hutt collection, I thought that i'd start this blog to chart my own collection of Millennium Falcon related stuff as it increases. Well, that was the plan but it now seems to be more about cataloguing any Millennium Falcon in general now so that i can come back to them later.

Vanderstelt is so incredibly talented. Nice pickup (well, preorder at least).

Yes, he is. I was in two minds as i can’t really afford it right now but an edition size of 75 is pretty low. I was also hoping that it’d take a month or two to come. :)

I was at the Acme Archives booth at Comic Con yesterday and they also had this beauty on the wall http://www.starwars.com/vault/books/peterferkvisions/index.html I’ve been eyeing it since it was shown in Visions and I mentioned that it was neither in any of their news letters nor on their website. No one believed me though! And it’s still not on the site. =/ I lurve it! The paper print runs $165 US but I can’t remember how much the canvas pieces run. We even got to meet the artist, Peter Ferk.

We specifically went to the booth to meet Christian Waggoner while he was painting his next amazing piece for Acme. He was incredibly nice and even hand signed the back of our brand new C3PO piece (1/95!!).

Yeah, i’ve seen that one in the Visions books. I’m not too sure whether or not i like it to be honest. Technically it’s a very good still life but there’s just something about it that puts me off.

As for Christian Waggoner, i love his work and hope that he does something that features the Falcon in his “reflections” line. (Perhaps the Falcon in reflection from a Tie Fighter Pilot’s visor as it’s being chase through the Asteroice Field.)

I think Waggoner said his next piece will involve Yoda and order 66, but don’t quote me on that! lol. I’m not sure if he’ll ever incorporate vehicles into his pieces other then perhaps the interiors, such as the stormtrooper on Tantive IV.
